DNA can be a wonderful tool to use in your genealogical research but many find it confusing. You eagerly do the test, wait patiently for the results but then are baffled with what to do when you are suddenly faced with lists of people you share DNA with. To help take away some of the confusion, SAG now offers its members a DNA Consulting Service.
If you have tested with AncestryDNA or Family Tree DNA, you will have the opportunity to discuss your results and work on a DNA research plan. Perhaps you’ve uploaded your results to GEDmatch, but are now confused about all the numbers and not sure how to use their analysis tools. You will come away from the session with a clearer understanding of what to do with your matches, and where to go next.
The DNA Consulting service will be a chance to have a one on one, face to face meeting at the SAG library, or you can opt to have your consultation online at a time more convenient to you. The consultants will either be a SAG staff member or a highly skilled member of the SAG DNA Group and will run for 45 minutes.
In the future, SAG will look at expanding the DNA Consulting service to encompass other testing companies.
Duration: 45 minutes
Place: SAG Library or Online
